Spartacus: House of Ashur to Premiere Winter 2026

According to CinemaDrame news agency, At Comic-Con, Starz announced that the erotic miniseries Spartacus: House of Ashur will now premiere in winter 2026 instead of the previously planned fall release. Liam McIntyre, who portrayed Spartacus, served as moderator of the series panel at the convention.

Written and executive produced by Spartacus creator Steven DeKnight, House of Ashur explores an alternate scenario: what if Ashur, played by Nick Tarabay, had not been killed at the end of Spartacus: Vengeance, and had instead been granted control of the ludus in exchange for helping bring down Spartacus and end the slave rebellion? This question is addressed in the first episode of House of Ashur, which features Lucy Lawless reprising her role.

The cast also includes Graham McTavish, Tenika Davis, Jamaica Vaughan, Ivana Baquero, Jordi Webber, Claudia Black, India Shaw-Smith, and Lee Gill.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand originally focused on the early life of Spartacus, played by Andy Whitfield. That series also starred John Hannah, Lucy Lawless, Peter Mensah, Manu Bennett, Lesley-Ann Brandt, and Katrina Law. Production on a second season was halted when Whitfield was diagnosed with cancer, prompting Starz to instead produce the prequel miniseries Spartacus: Gods of the Arena starring Dustin Clare. The second season, Spartacus: Vengeance, aired in 2012 following Whitfield’s death, with Liam McIntyre stepping into the lead role for both the second and third seasons.

Spartacus: House of Ashur, which was greenlit two years ago, will debut in winter 2026 after a brief delay.
