Golden Globes to Award Best Podcast Starting 2026

According to cinemadrame news agency, podcast producers will soon have the chance to win a Golden Globe Award and spend an evening alongside Hollywood stars. It was announced this week that a “Best Podcast” award will be added to the list of Golden Globe categories. The winner of this award in 2026 will be selected from 25 podcasts, with voters choosing six final nominees.
Helen Hoehne, President of the Golden Globes, stated: “As the world of entertainment continues to evolve, we are thrilled to recognize new forms of storytelling. Podcasts have emerged as a profound medium for sharing narratives and building communities across geographic and generational boundaries. By honoring achievements in audio and video podcasts, we aim to create a fresh space for new voices and formats to be heard, while still respecting traditional categories.”
The Golden Globes is the first traditional American awards ceremony to recognize podcasts, although the medium has been a central focus at the iHeartRadio Podcast Awards. Following changes in Golden Globe ownership, the controversial “Cinematic and Box Office Achievement” award was added to the ceremony in 2024, with Margot Robbie and other producers of “Barbie” being the first to receive it on stage.
Award ceremonies have undergone changes in recent years. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced last month that starting in 2028, it will present awards for stunt coordination for the first time, and for best casting starting in 2027.
The 83rd Golden Globe Awards ceremony will take place on January 11, 2026. Nikki Glaser is set to return as host for the ceremony on CBS.
