“Leaving Neverland 2” Release Date Announced

According to cinemadrame news agency, the sequel to the controversial Emmy-winning documentary “Leaving Neverland,” which addresses allegations of sexual abuse by Michael Jackson, will be released next month. “Leaving Neverland,” directed by Dan Reed, was broadcast five years ago.
Reed had previously announced he would make a sequel to the documentary. In the original documentary, Wade Robson and James Safechuck claimed they were sexually abused by Michael Jackson during their childhood. British channel Channel 4 has confirmed that the sequel will air on March 18 (Esfand 29, 1403), but HBO has not participated in its production this time.
HBO’s legal battle with Michael Jackson’s representatives following the broadcast of the first documentary led the network to withdraw from the sequel. A U.S. court had ruled that “Leaving Neverland” violated a contract signed in 1992 for the broadcast of the “Dangerous” concert.
The new sequel, titled “Leaving Neverland 2: Surviving Michael Jackson,” will chronicle the efforts of Safechuck, Robson, and their legal representatives to seek justice. The one-hour film will explore the impact of making these allegations public and the negative reactions from Jackson’s global fanbase. “Leaving Neverland 2” was produced by Amos Pictures, with Dan Reed serving as producer and director.
The first documentary, “Leaving Neverland,” won an Emmy for Best Documentary and a BAFTA Television Award.
