California Governor Reacts to Trump’s “Superman” Meme: “‘Superman’ Was an Undocumented Immigrant”

According to Cinemadrame News Agency, the “White House” account on the social media platform X yesterday published an edited “Superman” movie poster featuring Donald Trump’s head, calling the U.S. president “Trump Superman.” This meme was released concurrently with the “Superman” movie’s theatrical release and ongoing ethnic and racial discussions about immigrants, connecting it to themes within James Gunn’s film.
Last week, Gunn told The Times London that Superman is, in fact, an immigrant: “‘Superman’ is an American story. An immigrant who comes from somewhere else and settles in this country, but for me, it’s more a story about the fundamental kindness of human beings, which is a value we’ve lost.”
This interview led many conservative figures, including former Superman actor Dean Cain, to label the film “woke” and predict its commercial failure. However, Gunn’s “Superman” broke box office records on its opening night and might revive the superhero genre.
Gavin Newsom, the Governor of California, who entered an unprecedented verbal conflict with Trump after the Los Angeles riots, reacted on X to the “White House” meme and the discussions surrounding the “Superman” film, writing: “‘Superman’ was an undocumented immigrant.”
Newsom also posted a video of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents raiding a cannabis farm in Camarillo, writing: “Kids are running from tear gas, crying because their mother was abducted from the farm. Trump calls me ‘Newscum’ – but the real scum is him.”
