Peter Jackson Writing Three New Screenplays: “I Haven’t Retired Yet”

According to Cinemadrame News Agency, New Zealand director Peter Jackson, known for “Lord of the Rings,” says he hasn’t retired and has three films in the works. His last feature film was “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies,” released in 2014. Since then, he’s released several documentaries, including “They Shall Not Grow Old.”
In a new interview with Screen Rant, Jackson emphasized that he is not retired: “No, I haven’t retired yet. We’re working on three different screenplays. I’m writing three different screenplays at the moment. We’ve been writing and producing ‘The Hunt for Gollum,’ which Andy Serkis is directing next year. I enjoyed making documentaries, whether they show I’m getting old or not, and of course, the ‘Get Back’ documentary. The Beatles project. I enjoy the different Beatles projects, and this might continue.”
He didn’t confirm whether he would direct the three new screenplays or if they are connected to the “Lord of the Rings” universe. Some of Jackson’s fans hope one of the screenplays might be a sequel to “The Adventures of Tintin.”
Jackson was nominated for and won Academy Awards for his “Lord of the Rings” films. He received the Oscar for Best Picture for “The Return of the King” in 2003. He then directed “The Hobbit” trilogy, which, like the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, was commercially successful but met with less critical acclaim.
