“Outcry” Wins Special Prize at Karlovy Vary Festival

According to cinemadrame News Agency, The film “Outcry” directed by Soheil Beiraghi won the Special Jury Prize at the 59th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Babak Jalali, Jiří Mádl, Jessica Kiang, Tuva Novotny, and Nicolas Saada were the jury members for this edition.
The “Crystal Globe” award for this year’s festival went to the Czech Republic’s film “Better Go Mad in the Wild” by Miro Remo. The award for Best Director was given to Vytautas Katkus for “The Visitor” from Lithuania and Nathan Ambrosioni for “Out of Love” from France.
Pia Tjelta won Best Actress for “Don’t Call Me Mama” from Norway, and Alex Brendemühl won Best Actor for “When a River Becomes the Sea.”
This year’s ceremony was attended by actors such as Vicky Krieps, Dakota Johnson, Stellan Skarsgård, Peter Sarsgaard, and Michael Douglas, who received honorary awards.
The film “Outcry,” starring Amir Jadidi, Sarvin Zabetian, and Leili Rashidi, is about a woman who turns to street singing despite it being forbidden. The film was shot underground, and its title was not announced until a few days before the Karlovy Vary Festival in the Czech Republic to ensure the safety of its creators.
