Lili Reinhart Joins Film Adaptation of “The Love Hypothesis”

According to cinemadrame news agency, Lili Reinhart, following her role in the series “Hal & Harper” and winning Best Actress at Series Mania, has joined Amazon MGM and MRC’s film “The Love Hypothesis” as an actress and executive producer. The film is an adaptation of the bestselling novel by Ali Hazelwood, published in 2021.
This romantic comedy is about a biologist named Olive Smith and a rebellious professor named Dr. Adam Carlsen who enter into a fake relationship, and their theories about love turn into chaos.

Hazelwood’s novel spent ten months on The New York Times bestseller list and was named Amazon’s best romance novel of the year. Hazelwood’s other works include “Problematic Summer Romance,” “Deep End,” and “Bride.”
Claire Scanlon (“Set It Up”) is directing “The Love Hypothesis” based on a screenplay written by Sarah Rothschild (“The Sleepover”). Elizabeth Cantillon (“Charlie’s Angels”) will produce the project alongside Reinhart and Hazelwood.
In a statement, Hazelwood said: “Books and films are very different mediums, but I have complete faith in this brilliant team. I eagerly await the final result and hope they enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing the book.”
Reinhart will soon appear alongside Cooper Raiff and Mark Ruffalo in the independent tour series “Hal & Harper.” She recently completed the films “The Very Best People,” directed by Brian Swible, and “Forbidden Fruits,” directed by Meredith Alloway, which IFC Films will release in 2026. Reinhart is also developing “Fake Wedding” for Amazon MGM.
Claire Scanlon is collaborating with Amazon MGM again after directing “The People We Hate at the Wedding,” starring Allison Janney, Kristen Bell, and Ben Platt. She previously directed “Set It Up” for Netflix, episodes of “Loot” and “Palm Royale” for Apple TV+, and “Abbott Elementary” for ABC.
