“Lilo & Stitch” Becomes the First Billion-Dollar Film of 2025

According to cinemadrame news agency, Disney’s live-action remake of “Lilo & Stitch” has crossed the one-billion-dollar mark worldwide. As of this Wednesday, the film’s global box office reached $1.001 billion, making it the first film of 2025 to surpass this figure.

Approximately $416 million of this gross comes from domestic markets, and another $584 million from international markets, while the film’s theatrical run is still ongoing. “Lilo & Stitch,” directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, surpassed $1 billion after eight weeks.

Domestically, “Lilo & Stitch” broke the all-time Memorial Day holiday record with $183 million. The film is currently one of only two films in 2025 to have grossed over $400 million.

In international markets, the film has become Disney’s highest-grossing live-action title in Mexico and the highest-grossing film of the year in France, Italy, Spain, Brazil, and Mexico. “Lilo & Stitch”‘s sales in Latin America are very close to $200 million.

The film’s highest-grossing international markets as of Wednesday were Mexico with $67 million, the United Kingdom with $48.9 million, France with $42.4 million, Brazil with $37.4 million, Germany with $32.4 million, Spain with $27.4 million, China with $25.2 million, Italy with $25.1 million, Australia with $21.1 million, and Argentina with $20.1 million.

In the past thirteen months, Walt Disney has released four billion-dollar films: “Lilo & Stitch,” “Moana 2,” “Deadpool & Wolverine,” and “Inside Out 2.”
