A novel centered around the life of Imam Baqir (PBUH).

The religious novel “Uncapped Pens” centered around the life of Imam Baqir (PBUH) has been written by Maryam Vali and published.

According to cinemadrame, the 292-page novel, released by Niyestan Publishing, introduces a fictional and subsidiary story that narrates various aspects of Imam Baqir’s life, from the beginning of his Imamate to his martyrdom. The writer ensures that the story does not overshadow the main narrative but runs parallel to it.

A notable aspect of this novel is the exploration of aspects of Imam Baqir’s life that have either been neglected or mentioned only briefly in a stereotypical manner. The focus on Imam’s mission to strengthen Islam and Shiaism, through his cultural struggles, his opposition to prevalent heresies and sects of that time, and his political leadership in guiding the Muslim community, are key points of the novel. The writer has attempted to portray these aspects in a narrative form, different from the conventional historical texts, allowing the reader to gain a clearer image of the Imam’s mission and objectives through gripping sub-stories.

In this novel, the writer also takes a unique narrative approach by illustrating the character and behavior of five of the Marwanid caliphs who were contemporaneous with Imam Baqir. Through detailed, story-like depictions of their lives and activities, the writer delves into the various facets of Imam Baqir’s life and mission. The story itself is full of suspense and unpredictability, drawing the reader to continue following the unfolding events.

The narrative begins before Imam Baqir’s Imamate and continues through the twists and turns of his life until his martyrdom. The story includes the portrayal of women who find themselves in turbulent situations, carrying a significant portion of the novel’s suspense with their challenges.

The setting of the story, spanning different locations due to Imam Baqir’s distinct living places compared to the caliphs, presents a challenge for the writer. In “Uncapped Pens,” the author overcomes this challenge by effectively developing the characters and integrating them into the plot at the right moments. The use of the present tense and creating a logical linguistic illusion are effective techniques that help the reader engage more deeply with the story’s atmosphere.

“Uncapped Pens” is the first fictional work to narrate the era of Imam Baqir’s Imamate, with the writer succeeding in depicting it in a fresh, non-official, and non-stereotypical way, using a delicate and exciting story.
