the Rick and Morty Spin-Off Featuring President Curtis Is in Development

According to CinemaDrame news agency, Adult Swim confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con that the Rick and Morty universe will expand with a spin-off centered on President Curtis. Kate David, the voice actress for the character, attended the panel.

David will reprise her role as President Andre Curtis in this series produced by Dan Harmon and James Siciliano, alongside Stephanie Beatriz from Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Jim Rash from Community. Both Rash and David have appeared in Community, making this collaboration a nostalgic treat for Harmon, the show’s creator, and fans alike.

David, known for her voice work on Fox’s animated series Krapopolis, will also star in the revived King of the Hill series on Hulu starting August 4. She has voiced characters in Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai, Family Guy, Kite Man: Hell Yeah!, Hit-Monkey, and Masters of the Universe: Revolution, and appeared on-screen in Duster, High Potential, and Abbott Elementary.

The new President Curtis series follows the commander-in-chief and his eccentric staff as they navigate crises that Rick Sanchez wouldn’t even spare a second on.

Previous Rick and Morty spin-offs include Vindicators and Rick and Morty: The Anime, along with several shorts and a video game.

Harmon and Siciliano released a statement about the character of President Curtis:
“He’s the only person across all parallel universes who can stand up to Rick and still remain in the Oval Office. Now, we finally get to experience sci-fi missions through Curtis’s eyes. And with Kate David leading the charge, this experience is going to be wildly insane.”
