Elle Fanning Plays Dual Roles in Predator: Badlands; New Scenes Added to Predator: Killer of Killers

According to CinemaDrame news agency, Director Dan Trachtenberg returned to San Diego Comic-Con this past Friday night for the eighth year in a row, reminiscing about the event’s iconic moments—from the first footage of Iron Man to the Avengers assembling on stage. “I was here when the famous pencil-stabbing incident happened,” he recalled.

Trachtenberg opened the panel with news about the animated film Predator: Killer of Killers, which recently debuted on Hulu:
“Unfortunately, parts of Killer of Killers were cut during editing, but we’ve now secretly reintegrated them.”

The restored scenes have been added to the film’s end credits. Originally, Prey‘s heroine Naru (Amber Midthunder) had a brief cameo. Now, the camera continues panning right, revealing Lt. Mike Harrigan (Donald Glover) and Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger) from the original Predator film. Schwarzenegger played a soldier leading a rescue operation in Central America in the 1987 classic, which also starred Carl Weathers, Kevin Peter Hall, and Jesse Ventura.

Trachtenberg shared that he recently spoke with Schwarzenegger:
“We talked a lot about what we could build together, and he gave his blessing for the cameo.” The director confirmed that the updated version of Killer of Killers—with the new scenes—was released Friday night.

In another part of the panel, Elle Fanning confirmed she plays two roles in Predator: Badlands. The film centers on Deck, a Predator played by Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, who for the first time is cast not as a villain but as the protagonist. He forms an alliance with Tia, a naive scientist portrayed by Fanning.

“There are no humans in this film,” Fanning said. “I play an artificial robot who is a Predator. And yet, the film is full of emotion and humanity—it’s really about an unexpected friendship between these two characters. The script blew me away. It was a new genre for me, with major physical and acting challenges. And yes, I can say I play two characters.”

Trachtenberg noted that science fiction often makes audiences fall in love with side characters:
“We fall in love with creatures and robots, who are usually sidekicks to villains and never the hero.”

He also revealed that Predator: Badlands ties into the Alien franchise, with a reference to the Weyland-Yutani Corporation.

Predator: Badlands is scheduled to hit theaters on November 7, 2025.
