Fernanda Torres and Mohammad Rasoulof to Jury at Venice Film Festival 2025

According to cinemadrame news agency, Oscar-winning Brazilian actress Fernanda Torres and Cannes award-winning Iranian director Mohammad Rasoulof have joined the jury for the 82nd Venice Film Festival.
It was previously reported that Alexander Payne will preside over this year’s jury. The members of this jury include French director and screenwriter Stéphane Brizé, Italian director and screenwriter Maura Delpero, Romanian director, writer, and producer Cristian Mungiu, Iranian director and writer Mohammad Rasoulof, Brazilian actress, writer, and screenwriter Fernanda Torres, and Chinese actress Zhao Tao.
This jury will award the Golden Lion for Best Film, the Silver Lion – Grand Jury Prize, the Silver Lion for Best Director, the Volpi Cup for Best Actress, the Volpi Cup for Best Actor, the Award for Best Screenplay, the Special Jury Prize, and the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Emerging Actor.
Some of these members have previously attended the Venice Film Festival. Brizé’s films “Another World” competed for the Golden Lion in 2021, and “Out of Season” in 2023. Delpero, on the other hand, had her film “Vermiglio” at Venice last year and won the Grand Jury Prize.
Torres was acclaimed at last year’s Venice Film Festival for the film “I’m Still Here,” directed by Walter Salles. That film won the Best Screenplay award and received the Oscar for Best International Feature Film a few months later. Rasoulof, who won the Special Jury Prize at Cannes in 2024 for “The Seed of the Sacred Fig,” will be making his first appearance at Venice.
French director and screenwriter Julia Ducournau, known for “Titane,” will preside over the “Orizzonti” section jury at this year’s Venice Film Festival. Other members of this jury will be Italian director and video artist Yuri Ancarani, Argentine critic Fernando Enrique Juan Lima, Australian director Shannon Murphy, and American artist and filmmaker Ramel Ross.
This jury will select the winners for Best Orizzonti Film, Best Orizzonti Director, Special Orizzonti Jury Prize, Best Orizzonti Actor, Best Orizzonti Screenplay, and Best Orizzonti Short Film.
The 82nd Venice Film Festival will take place from August 27 to September 6, 2025.
