First Look at Netflix’s Pride and Prejudice Series

According to Cinemadrame News Agency, Netflix has unveiled the first image from its six-episode miniseries Pride and Prejudice, based on the novel by Jane Austen, as filming begins in the UK.
Emma Corrin, Jack Lowden (of Slow Horses and Benediction), and Oscar-winner Olivia Colman (of The Favourite) star as “Elizabeth Bennet,” “Mr. Darcy,” and “Mrs. Bennet,” respectively. Rufus Sewell (The Diplomat) appears as “Mr. Bennet,” while Fraya Mavor plays “Jane Bennet,” Rhea Norwood is “Lydia Bennet,” and newcomers Holly Auri and Hope Perry are cast as “Kitty Bennet” and “Mary Bennet.” Louis Partridge appears as “Mr. Wickham,” Jamie Demetriou as “Mr. Collins,” Fiona Shaw as “Lady Catherine de Bourgh,” Daryl McCormack as “Mr. Bingley,” and Siena Kelly as his sister “Caroline Kelly.”
Written in the early 19th century, Pride and Prejudice tells a story of love and social class, recounting the experiences of “Elizabeth Bennet” and “Fitzwilliam Darcy” as they face numerous obstacles in their path to love.
Over the decades, there have been several adaptations of the novel, including the 2005 film Pride & Prejudice starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen, and a BBC series a decade earlier with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. In 2022, Netflix adapted another Austen work, Persuasion, starring Dakota Johnson.
The new adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is written by Dolly Alderton (Everything I Know About Love). Euros Lyn directs the series and serves as one of the executive producers.
