First Trailer for Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest Starring Denzel Washington

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, the first trailer for Highest 2 Lowest, directed by Spike Lee and starring Denzel Washington, has been released. The film received a six-minute standing ovation at the last Cannes Film Festival.
Highest 2 Lowest is an adaptation of Akira Kurosawa’s High and Low, which was released in 1963. The cast also includes Jeffrey Wright, Ice Spice, Dean Winters, and A$AP Rocky. In the film, Washington plays a music mogul who faces a moral dilemma after becoming entangled in a blackmail plot.
At Cannes, Lee was asked whether social media has endangered morality in America. He responded: “Given the president we have, I’m not sure how much we can talk about American values.” He joked, “My wife said, ‘Spike, watch what you say at this festival!’ But the thing is, I don’t think we can just condemn social media. People say the same things about cinema. So I’m not willing to demonize the form.”
The American filmmaker first appeared at Cannes in 1989 with his film Do the Right Thing.
Highest 2 Lowest is a co-production between Apple and A24. It will premiere in theaters on August 22 before streaming on Apple TV+ starting September 5.
