Five Al Jazeera Journalists Killed in Israeli Airstrike

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, five journalists from Al Jazeera television were killed in an Israeli airstrike near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza. Anas al-Jamal al-Sharif, who won the “Human Rights Defender” award last year, was among the victims.
Al Jazeera issued a statement strongly condemning what it called a “targeted assassination,” describing it as “another blatant and deliberate attack on press freedom.”
Last month, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) reported grave concern for al-Sharif’s safety, warning that Israel was laying the groundwork for his assassination through a smear campaign. Israel has claimed that al-Sharif collaborated with Hamas and was “responsible for increasing rocket attacks.”
Minutes after al-Sharif’s death, his account on the social media platform X published his will. In one passage, he wrote:
“I ask you not to let chains silence you nor borders confine you. Be a bridge toward the freedom of the land and its people, until the sun of dignity and liberty rises over our stolen homeland. I entrust my family to you. I entrust to you my beloved daughter Sham, the light of my eyes — a girl whose growing up I will never witness as I had wished.”
According to CPJ, from October 7 two years ago until today, 186 journalists have been killed in Palestine.
