Halle Berry’s ex-husband: I divorced her because she didn’t cook or clean
According to CinemaDrame News Agency, David Justice, the former husband of Halle Berry, says he divorced the actress because she didn’t do “motherly” cooking or cleaning. Berry and Justice married in 1993 and separated three years later.
In an interview with the All The Smoke podcast, the Catwoman and Die Another Day actress’s ex-husband said Berry proposed to him after five months of dating:
“I look at my mother and I’m a Midwestern man, meaning that at the time, in my mind, I was thinking of a wife who cooks and cleans. I asked myself: if we have children, is this the woman who will be their mother and raise a family with me? Back then, as a young man, I thought if she doesn’t cook and clean, she doesn’t seem motherly — and that’s when our problems began.”
He continued: “I agreed because I couldn’t say no. I agreed, but I don’t know if I truly wanted to, and I didn’t want to upset her by refusing.”
Berry has not responded to this interview, but she has previously said that her ex-husbands physically abused her. Justice insists he is not the man who struck Berry in the head, causing her to lose her hearing:
“She made the whole world think that I was that guy. And that I never appreciated her.”
