Ian McKellen was taken to the hospital after falling on stage during the Player Kings theater performance.

The 85-year-old Lord of the Rings actor Ian McKellen fell on stage during a theater performance.

According to cinemadrame, Ian McKellen, the actor known for his role in The Lord of the Rings, fell during a theater performance. However, his representatives announced this Tuesday that the actor has fully recovered and is in “good spirits.”

The BBC reported that the actor, known for playing Gandalf, was taken to the hospital with pain after the fall. He was performing in Player Kings, a play inspired by Shakespeare’s Henry IV.

One audience member mentioned that McKellen fell while moving towards the crowd, and immediately two doctors from the audience rushed to his aid. The theater was evacuated, and the performance was canceled. Additionally, the show on Thursday this week has been canceled to allow McKellen more time to rest.

McKellen, who has six decades of acting experience, has played several Shakespearean roles, including Richard II, Macbeth, and King Lear. He has won a Tony Award for Amadeus and has several Olivier Awards and two Oscar nominations in his career.
