Jennifer Aniston: We mourned Matthew Perry long before his death

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Jennifer Aniston admits in a new interview with Vanity Fair that the cast of Friends had been “mourning” Matthew Perry long before his death at the age of 54. Perry, who played Chandler Bing opposite Aniston’s Rachel Green, died from a ketamine overdose. Long before he drowned in the jacuzzi at his home, he had spoken openly about struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.

“When we could, we did everything we could,” Aniston said. “But it’s almost as though we had been mourning Matthew for a long time because fighting that disease was so hard for him. As difficult as it is for all of us and for the fans, I feel like this is better. I’m happy he’s no longer in pain.”

Following Perry’s death, the cast and crew of Friends released statements honoring his memory. Aniston shared one of Perry’s last messages to her, which read: “Making you laugh just made my day.”

Katie Edwards, who dated Perry in 2006, had earlier told The Mirror that corrupt doctors were responsible for the actor’s death:
“Behind those who have been charged, there’s an entire network, and the police should be questioning them. Detectives just need to look into his medical records. There are so many doctors who were involved with him over the years, and now they’re terrified. Anyone who had an active addiction knew exactly where to turn. It’s a scandal.”
