Jim Carrey Selling Los Angeles Mansion at a 41% Discount

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Jim Carrey is putting his Brentwood mansion on the market for $17 million — a 41% discount — fueling speculation that the Mask star may be preparing to leave California. The sale comes amid a wave of Hollywood celebrities moving out of Los Angeles and even the United States.
Complex reports that the property was first listed more than two years ago for around $29 million but failed to find a buyer. Last month, Carrey accepted an offer of $17 million.
Carrey purchased the 10,000-square-foot, five-bedroom estate in 1994 for $3.9 million. The property features an Art Deco-style movie theater, a wine cellar, a home gym, a tennis court, and a bar.
The Dumb and Dumber and Truman Show star told Access Hollywood in 2022 that he was “fairly serious” about retiring: “If the angels bring me a script written in gold ink that says this is going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road. But I’m going to take a break for a while.”
The recent exodus of celebrities from Hollywood has been attributed to various factors, including wildfire risks, rising theft, and policies under Donald Trump that led to the deportation of a veteran comedian and drove several other stars out of the U.S.
