Johnny Depp Says His Acting Career in Hollywood Has Been “Magical” and “Sometimes Tragic”

According to Cinemadrame, Johnny Depp referred to his acting career in Hollywood as “sometimes tragic” during the National Film Awards ceremony. The 61-year-old actor, known for Pirates of the Caribbean, was receiving the award for his role in Jeanne du Barry.
In a pre-recorded message broadcast at the Thursday night event in London, Depp said the award was an honor: “In the work that I do, I am inspired by all of you who have been with me on this long journey and understood me. These awards are especially meaningful when they come directly from the hearts of the people, from those who joined me in a long, legendary, magical, sometimes tragic path, which was never boring.”
He expressed that his fans are the reason he continues to “move forward”: “It is only because of you that I am here today. Thank you, and as always, I send you love and respect.”
In another part of the ceremony, Back to Black, a biographical film about Amy Winehouse, won the Best Drama award, and Adam Deacon took home the Best Actor award for Sumotherhood. Parisha Hodge won the Best Actress award for Arthur’s Whisky.
Jeanne du Barry, directed and starring French actress Maiwenn, marked Depp’s first film after his legal victory over his ex-wife Amber Heard in 2022. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and received mixed reviews.
