Julian Assange Wore Names of Palestinian Children at Cannes Film Festival 2025

According to cinemadrame news agency, Julian Assange, the Australian journalist and activist, wore a shirt bearing the names of Palestinian child victims of the war at the photo call for the documentary film “Recovered” this Tuesday. The documentary was directed by American filmmaker Eugene Jarecki.

The 53-year-old former hacker has not yet spoken to the press since his release, but his wife, Stella, told Agence France-Presse: “When he’s ready, he’ll speak.” She added that her husband is enjoying Australian nature and has recovered physically and mentally.
Assange was released from a supermax prison in the UK last June. He had been tried and sentenced to five years in prison for publishing top-secret military documents.
Jarecki stated: “I think Julian Assange put himself at risk to inform people about what governments and corporations do in secret. He should be seen as a hero.”
The documentary includes an interview with a private intelligence operative who claims American intelligence services ordered him to spy on Assange’s residence at the Ecuadorian embassy. “Baywatch” actress Pamela Anderson and Edward Snowden will also appear in the documentary.
