Kamala Harris Criticizes Politicians for “Surrendering” to Trump in Interview with Stephen Colbert

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Kamala Harris sat down with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show for her first interview following her defeat in the U.S. presidential election. In the interview, she criticized the level of “surrender” she perceives in Washington, D.C. in the face of Donald Trump.

When Colbert asked whether she wanted to say “I told you so” to the American people, Harris responded, “I didn’t predict this; I didn’t expect it. I believed that, at some level, there would be enough people who see themselves as stewards of the system and democracy—people who have simply given up.”

Harris did not mention anyone by name, but claimed that Republicans have failed to stand up to Trump’s dominance:

“We designed our democracy with three independent, coequal branches. Yet you see the President of the United States trying to do away with the Department of Education, and Congress is supposed to push back—but instead, they do nothing, and then go on recess because they don’t want to deal with transparency.”

Harris referenced House Speaker Mike Johnson’s recess, which effectively prevented Democrats from legally releasing documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. She is set to publish a book, 107 Days, which recounts the behind-the-scenes events of her brief campaign against Trump.

Last Wednesday, Harris stated she would not run for governor of California. On this topic, she commented: “Right now, I don’t want to return to the system. In my view, the system is broken.”
