“Lanner Falcon” Documentary: Unique Among All Documentaries Made

According to cinemadrame news agency, Nasrollah Mohammadi Iyazi, the director of the documentary “Lanner Falcon,” stated: “The Simorgh [award] in this section is very valuable to me, and I believe it is the most valuable trophy and award among all festivals. For me, it’s far more precious than the trophies awarded at international festivals. I’ve dedicated almost my entire adolescence and youth to earning this Simorgh, working tirelessly day and night for about seven years.”
Nasrollah Mohammadi Iyazi, whose documentary “Lanner Falcon” is participating in the 43rd Fajr Film Festival, explained the subject of his documentary: “As a wildlife documentarian, I intended to create a documentary unlike any other made in the world. After years of researching and observing foreign and domestic documentaries, I realized that no wildlife documentarian had ever made a film about the scientific miracle of the Holy Quran in nature. I aimed to create a documentary that, in addition to portraying the beauty of nature and introducing Iran’s wildlife, would also reference the scientific aspects of the Holy Quran.”
He continued: “After thoroughly studying the Holy Quran and conducting over 25 years of research on the Lanner Falcon and its migration from Iran to Africa and the return of this rare and endangered creature from Africa to its exact previous location in Iran – and finding that this bird’s habitat in Iran is constant every year, with Africa serving as a temporary place for its rest and peace – and discovering this subject in the sixth verse of Surah Hud, I became the first wildlife documentarian in the world to personally study and decipher the scientific themes of the Holy Quran and produce a documentary based on them.”
The documentarian noted the 7-year production period of this documentary: “It took about seven years to make this documentary. This film also touches upon the issue of water in our country. The effects of drought and water scarcity on this bird’s life have led to a decline in its population. Furthermore, the disruption of the bird’s biological chain and their population decrease forces farmers to use pesticides and agricultural fertilizers to grow their crops, which ultimately leads to every individual in society consuming products grown with fertilizers and poisons.”
He added: “I started filming in 2017 and continued until 2024, but I spent many years on research and study, and finally, a 75-minute documentary titled “Lanner Falcon” was produced. Of course, I sought help from Mr. Afshin Pour, who is an excellent documentarian, for better editing.”
Mohammadi Iyazi spoke about his presence at the 43rd Fajr Film Festival: “The documentary “Lanner Falcon” is among the 11 documentaries present at this edition of the Fajr Film Festival, and this is an honor for me. I thank all the judges who selected my documentary and gave me this opportunity to be present at the festival.”
The director of “Lanner Falcon” reiterated: “The Simorgh [award] in this section is very valuable to me, and I believe it is the most valuable trophy and award among all festivals. For me, it’s far more precious than the trophies awarded at international festivals. I’ve dedicated almost my entire adolescence and youth to earning this Simorgh, working tirelessly day and night for about seven years.”
Nasrollah Mohammadi Iyazi concluded by saying: “Currently, I am working on documentaries about the Iranian Golden Eagle and the scientific miracles of the Quran in nature.”
