New Teaser and Posters of Joker: Folie à Deux Released Days Before Its Venice Film Festival Premiere
According to cinemadrame, Warner Bros. has unveiled new teasers and posters for Joker: Folie à Deux. The latest film by Todd Phillips will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival this week.
In this musical, Joaquin Phoenix reprises his role as Arthur Fleck or Joker, and Lady Gaga stars as Harley Quinn. The film also features Catherine Keener, Brendan Gleeson, and Zazie Beetz in supporting roles.
Gaga previously told Empire that she deliberately sang off-key and altered her voice for her portrayal of Harley Quinn: “There are off-notes that are really coming from Lee. I’m a trained singer. So, even my breathing while singing as Lee was different. When I breathe on stage, I manage it in a controlled way to make sure it has the right pitch, rhythm, and duration, but Lee doesn’t know any of those techniques. So, I had to strip away all the technical aspects of the performance and my own preserved artistic form and fully immerse myself in her character.”
Alberto Barbera, the artistic director of the Venice Film Festival, told Deadline about Joker 2: “It’s a dystopian musical, or a kind of musical. In my opinion, it’s one of the boldest, bravest, and most creative American films in recent years. And I believe it confirms that Todd Phillips is one of the most creative directors of our time.”
Joker: Folie à Deux will be released in U.S. theaters starting October 5, after its screening at Venice.
