Nobody 2 Eyes $10 Million Opening Weekend

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Universal Pictures is set to release Nobody 2 this week, starring Bob Odenkirk, a sequel to the 2021 film Nobody, which once again sees the Better Call Saul actor reprising his role as Hutch Mansell. Indonesian director Timo Tjahjanto (V/H/S/94) has taken the helm for the sequel, replacing Ilya Naishuller.
With a rollout in more than 3,200 theaters across North America, Nobody 2 is aiming for an opening gross between $10 million and $12 million. The first installment debuted with $6.8 million during the early months of cinema reopenings following the COVID-19 pandemic. That film went on to earn $27 million domestically and $57 million worldwide, and after finding strong success on digital platforms, Universal gave the green light for a sequel.
This follow-up was produced on a $25 million budget, compared to the $16 million spent on the original. Currently, Nobody 2 holds a 60% score on Metacritic and an 85% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The difference stems from the fact that Rotten Tomatoes incorporates reviews from bloggers and YouTubers — often more favorable — while Metacritic focuses primarily on critiques from traditional publications. The first Nobody received an 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
In its review, The Hollywood Reporter writes: “The filmmakers keep the film’s momentum so vibrantly alive (thankfully, it runs just 89 minutes) that you stick with the characters, and the action sequences are top-notch. Its moments of dry, biting humor are so plentiful that the film becomes irresistibly entertaining.”
However, an Associated Press critic offered a harsher take, writing: “Somebody, anybody, needs to get Odenkirk out of the Nobody franchise.”
