Not a Single Iranian Film: “Parasite” Crowned Best Film of the 21st Century by 200,000 New York Times Readers

According to cinemadrame news agency, the Korean-language film “Parasite,” directed by Bong Joon-ho, has been named the best film of the 21st century by 200,000 New York Times readers. This film had previously topped the publication’s survey of 500 artists for the best cinematic works of the current century.

Christopher Nolan’s two films, “Interstellar” and “The Dark Knight,” ranked fifth and sixth in the new list, respectively, while David Lynch’s “Mulholland Drive” remained in second place, mirroring the artists’ list.

The New York Times readers’ list features more blockbusters and commercial films than art-house productions. “Barbie,” “Sinners,” “Django Unchained,” “Little Women,” “Mean Girls,” and “Avengers: Endgame” were among these titles.

On the other hand, Damien Chazelle’s “La La Land,” which was not seen on the artists’ list, secured the 16th spot on the readers’ list. There are 17 non-English films on the readers’ list, but none of them are Iranian.
