Susan Sarandon: “Superman” Only Upsetting to Colonizers

According to cinemadrame news agency, Susan Sarandon, the Academy Award-winning American actress, praised James Gunn’s film “Superman” on Instagram. She stated that the superhero movie possesses all the qualities of a lasting work and, in addition to receiving positive reviews and breaking box office records, has sparked cultural discussions.
The actress, known for films like “Thelma & Louise” and “Dead Man Walking,” wrote: “I loved this film. ‘Superman’ prevents the wholesale colonization of indigenous people by a ruthless army, so you’d only have to be a colonizer for this film to upset you.”
Many believe that “Superman” indirectly critiques Israeli actions in Palestine. However, some others interpret the film’s military conflict scenes as applicable to the Russia-Ukraine war.
Sarandon caused controversy in November two years ago when she attended a pro-Palestine rally and claimed that Jews were “getting a taste of what it’s like to be Muslim in this country.” As a result of that speech, Sarandon was dropped by the UTA talent agency.
James Gunn previously told The Times London in an interview: “When I wrote this movie, the Middle East war hadn’t happened. So I tried to steer clear of that with little bits, but it has nothing to do with the Middle East. It’s a much more powerful country with an autocratic leader attacking a country that has problems in its political history, but is utterly defenseless against the country opposite. It’s really fictional.”
