Sydney Sweeney’s Republican Affiliation Documents Revealed; Is the “Hollywood Script” Being Rewritten?

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, documents published by BuzzFeed and confirmed by outlets such as Newsweek show that Sydney Sweeney has identified herself as a Republican voter in Florida since June 2024.
The release of these documents comes shortly after the controversial collaboration of the “Euphoria” actress in American Eagle jeans ads. The video was deemed racially coded by predominantly liberal groups and even drew reactions from political figures, including U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance.
Records from the Florida Department of State confirm that Sweeney registered as a Republican in Monroe County on June 14 of last year, and her voting status is listed as “active.” The documents were first shared by a user on the social platform X and then independently verified by BuzzFeed.
The controversy surrounding the American Eagle jeans campaign is turning Sweeney into a symbol of resisting “cancel culture.” American Eagle’s ad slogan, “Sydney Sweeney’s jeans are great,” plays on the homophones “jeans” and “genes.”
In one of the ads, Sweeney says: “Genes are passed down from parents to children, and often determine characteristics like hair color, personality, and even eye color… My jeans are blue.”
A TikTok user (@thealtperspective), in a video with nearly 2 million views, commented that these ads are “full of racist and fascist political codes.” Another wrote: “Did Sydney Sweeney move to Florida and re-register in 2024, or just decide that 2024 is a good year to become a Republican?”
A different user on X disagreed, writing: “Sydney Sweeney’s ‘good genes’ ad isn’t about white supremacy… It’s about ending cancel culture, which demonizes beauty, excellence, and virtue.”
Another user offered a different perspective: “This isn’t a scandal. It’s a shift in the landscape. Hollywood’s worst nightmare isn’t Trump in 2025. It’s beautiful blondes whose ballots say: Republican. She didn’t just rewrite the script. She burned it. And now everyone is scrambling to rewrite it.”
This isn’t the first time the “Anyone But You” actress has been linked to the Republican Party. In 2022, she faced criticism after posting photos from her mother’s 60th birthday party, where guests wore “MAGA” hats and “Blue Lives Matter” attire.
