The Armenian festival hosts Iranian documentarians

The 10th International Documentary Film Festival “Apricot Tree” was held from August 24 to 31 (3rd to 10th of Shahrivar) in the village of Debed, Lori Province, Armenia.

According to cinemadrame, the 10th edition of the “Apricot Tree” festival took place with the participation of 20 countries.

The competition section of the festival featured 19 short and feature films from various countries, some of which had previously been showcased at prestigious global festivals such as Berlin, Venice, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, and more.

The festival also included special non-competitive programs, which featured the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Parajanov and Charles Aznavour, as well as the 140th anniversary of the birth of Robert Flaherty, the father of documentary cinema and the renowned American filmmaker.

Iranian documentarian Mehdi Bagheri was part of the jury alongside French and Armenian judges. The documentary “Kariz, Tale of Water” by Hadi Afarideh was screened in the special section of the festival, with the director in attendance.

Additionally, the documentary “Fate of the Unfortunate” by Faraz Fadaiyan was also screened with the filmmaker present.

This year, the festival hosted 30 foreign participants.

Films were shown in the garden of the Debed Guesthouse and in the library hall of the village.
