The film Beetlejuice Beetlejuice received a four-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival

According to cinemadrame, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice opened the out-of-competition section of the Venice Film Festival this Wednesday and received a three to four-minute standing ovation. Unlike at the Cannes Film Festival, Tim Burton and other members of the film’s crew did not give a speech after the screening. This filmmaker has directed the sequel to Beetlejuice after three decades.

In this film, Astrid, Lydia’s teenage daughter, played by Jenna Ortega, discovers a portal to the afterlife in the basement of the house. Other actors in this sequel include Michael Keaton, Catherine O’Hara, Willem Dafoe, Danny DeVito, Monica Bellucci, Justin Theroux, and Winona Ryder.

In the film’s press conference in Venice, Burton said, “Over the past few years, I had become disillusioned with the filmmaking business. I knew that if I were going to make something, it had to come from the heart. I kind of lost myself, but this film gave me new energy. I went back to the things I loved and worked with people I loved. With this one, it didn’t matter what kind of film came out of it. I just enjoyed making it with these people.” Warner Bros. will release Beetlejuice Beetlejuice in U.S. cinemas on September 6.
