The membership conditions for the National Library of Iran have changed.

According to a report by cinemadrame, the guidelines for admission and membership at the National Library were published in Farvardin 1403. As per the new guidelines, the membership period is limited, and accurate documentation is required.
In Farvardin 1403, the new admission and membership guidelines for the National Library were approved. These guidelines outline the membership conditions for special, specialized, and general members. Based on the changes in the guidelines, master’s degree students who previously had unrestricted access to the National Library facilities are now required to upload the approval of their thesis proposal.
Another change in the guidelines concerns membership renewal conditions. According to the new guidelines, individuals wishing to renew their membership for more than a year must submit a request. This request will be reviewed by the membership committee, and if approved, the individual will be notified. Furthermore, the new regulations state: to ensure public justice and respect cultural rights, as well as to maximize the use of the National Library’s services, the membership renewal for general members is limited to a maximum of 3 years. Any request for membership renewal beyond 3 years will be subject to review and acceptance by the membership committee.
In the new regulations, the section for general members includes a change in the category of “veterans, martyrs’ immediate family members, and veterans.” It now refers to veterans as defined by the law with a bachelor’s degree. Previously, government retirees with at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent could benefit from general membership, but this option is no longer available in the new guidelines.
The new regulations specify the eligibility for research membership as follows:
- Faculty members
- Graduates and students in doctoral programs (PhD and professional doctorate, from semester 9 onward)
- Seminary students at level 4 and higher
- Holders of a first-degree artistic qualification
- Winners of national and international festivals such as Farabi and Khwarizmi
- Top researchers in organizational festivals
Previously, the conditions for those eligible for specialized membership were as follows:
- Elites and inventors
- Graduates of doctoral programs, professional doctorates, master’s degrees, and at least level three in seminary studies
- Doctoral students and seminary students at level four
- Professional doctoral students from semester nine onward
- Authors of scientific-specialized books

- Holders of first, second, and third-degree artistic qualifications (with confirmation from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance)
- Physically disabled individuals, blind and visually impaired individuals
- Employees of the organization with at least a bachelor’s degree
