The second edition of the book “Gohar-e Zartosht” has been published.

According to cinemadrame, the second edition of the book “Gohar-e Zartosht” by Pärwiz Akto Shervoo, translated by Khashayar Bahari, has been published in a print run of 1,500 copies, priced at 380,000 Toman, and spanning 292 pages by Farzan Rouz Publications.

Zoroastrianism, one of the oldest world religions, emerged in the second millennium BCE among the Iranian tribes of Central Asia. The only comprehensive translation of Zoroastrian texts, by E. West, was published around 1900 in the series of Sacred Books of the East. Since then, only selected Zoroastrian writings have been translated into English, with William Malandra providing translations mainly of Avestan and Old Persian texts. In this book, the author seeks to explore the origins of several key concepts in the Gathas and the later Avesta, with a focus on texts from Pahlavi literature. Many of the texts discussed involve spiritual thinking and themes related to faith.

The book consists of ten chapters, covering topics such as: the Avesta and other Zoroastrian writings, Avestan texts, inscriptions from the Achaemenid, Seleucid, and Parthian periods, Sassanian inscriptions, Pahlavi books on creation and the cosmos, the praise of creation by Ahura Mazda as stated by Darius, the ancient Avesta, the later Avesta, praises of Ahura Mazda, Keykhosrow, Afrasiab, Zoroaster and Vishaspa, Alexander and the Sasanians, Fereydun, and Ahriman tempting Zoroaster, among others.
