The second edition of the book “The Achaemenids Based on Eastern Iran Documents and Records” has been published.

According to cinemadrame, the second edition of the book “The Achaemenids Based on Eastern Iran Documents and Records” by Willem Vogelsang, translated by Khashayar Bahari, has been published in a print run of 700 copies, spanning 277 pages, priced at 350,000 Toman by Farzan Rouz Publications.

This book is an analytical work on Achaemenid history and can be used alongside academic reference books. The author focuses not on Greek, Biblical, Egyptian, or Babylonian accounts but on the data from the trilingual Achaemenid inscriptions. His goal is to highlight the Eastern Iranian elements within these inscriptions, which has led to significant findings.

The book also provides a detailed analysis of the sequence of events in the Behistun inscription. One important hypothesis the author emphasizes and draws significant conclusions from is the strong connection between the Medes and the nomadic Scythian tribes in northern Iranian territories. From this perspective, the Persians are considered more connected to their ancestral land than the Medes. By using Achaemenid inscriptions and artworks, the author offers clear yet simple depictions of them.

Chapters of the book include topics such as the Eastern Iranian territories, ancient Bactria, neighboring lands, the northwestern territories, the borders of India and Iran, Achaemenid sources on Eastern Iran, classical references to Eastern Iran, Alexander in Eastern Iran, and the Achaemenid Persian Empire.
