The third season of House of the Dragon is in production.

According to cinemadrame, HBO has confirmed that the third season of the fantasy series will be made, just as the second season is about to air. George R.R. Martin mentioned in December that the creators are planning for both the third and fourth seasons.

The prequel to Game of Thrones takes place 174 years before the rise of Ned Stark, Daenerys Targaryen, and Tyrion Lannister, and is based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire and Blood. Martin and Ryan Condal are the creators of the series, with Condal serving as the showrunner and executive producer.

Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Steve Toussaint as Corlys Velaryon, Fabian Frankel as Ser Criston Cole, Tom Glynn-Carney as Aegon Targaryen, and Ewan Mitchell as Aemond Targaryen are some of the actors who appeared in the first and second seasons.

At the season two premiere, Matt Smith mentioned, “Daemon [character] spirals into destruction. Many things you think you know about him won’t come to pass. He unravels, essentially like a piece of thread in the wind. He pretty much loses his mind.”

Season two of House of the Dragon will premiere on June 16.
