Tim Allen Says “Toy Story 5” Will Focus on Jessie’s Character

According to Cinemadrame News Agency, Tim Allen stated in a new interview with Collider that the characters Buzz Lightyear and Woody Pride will reunite in “Toy Story 5.” He also promised that this sequel will focus more on the character of Jessie.
Allen, who recently appeared in the comedy series “Shifting Gear,” told WIVB in an interview that his character will have an “incredible” scene in this installment: “I can tell you that it’s mostly about Jessie. Tom [Hanks] and I – Woody and I – get back together. And Buzz Lightyear has an incredible opening scene. I can’t say anything more than that.”
The character of Jessie, voiced by Joan Cusack, is a cowgirl who was first introduced in “Toy Story 2.”
Allen had previously stated that he had recorded scenes for this sequel: “It’s a very, very clever story. Should there be five movies? I don’t think it’s about money. There’s no doubt they want it to be a blockbuster, but they’re not producing it for that reason. If they didn’t have a brilliant script, they wouldn’t make it and wouldn’t call me and Tom [Hanks]. It’s very smart.”
Andrew Stanton has been chosen to direct “Toy Story 5,” and it will tell another story about toys encountering electronic devices that may have become more appealing to children. Stanton has written all the “Toy Story” films and has directed “Finding Nemo” and “WALL-E.”
Disney will release “Toy Story 5” on June 19, 2026.
