World War II to Open the 2024 London Festival

According to Cinemadrame, and quoting from Variety, McQueen is opening the London Film Festival for the third time. Previously, Widows in 2018 and Mangrove in 2020 were the opening films of the festival.
Now, for the third time, the World War II drama Blitz, directed by Steve McQueen, will open the 68th London Film Festival. This film is produced by Apple.
The film stars Harris Dickinson, Benjamin Clementine, Kathy Burke, Paul Weller, and Stephen Graham.
The story is about a 9-year-old boy named George, played by Elliot Heffernan, in London during the war. His mother, Rita, played by Saoirse Ronan, sends him to the suburbs to protect him, but George returns to London, and the mother begins searching for her missing son.
McQueen described his film as one about the people of London, created to honor how the residents of the city withstood the intense bombings, and said the core of the film is the story of a working-class family during the war.
Blitz will be released in selected cinemas on November 1st and will be available on Apple TV+ starting November 22nd.
The 68th London Film Festival, organized by the British Film Institute, will be held from October 9 to 20 (18 to 29 Mehr).
Films from the festival will also be screened simultaneously in cinemas partnering with the festival in locations such as Nottingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, Belfast, Sheffield, Newcastle, and Bristol.
